The player can start his own adventure with only one main building, the Mayor's House and he needs to build a big and rich society, thanks to the numerous raw materials that are alla scattered around the world of The Settlers Online.
The player will be guided inside the game thanks to an accurate tutorial, that will explain to him all the different types of buildings that are inside the game. The player have to gather food, stone, wood and a lot of others raw materials to let his community grow bigger and bigger.
There are several basic buildings inside the game that can be upgraded and let the player build new ones, spending of course more resources and raw materials. In order to build bigger and bigger buildings the player needs to wait some minutes to several hours.
The technical part is very well done and the graphic is really good to be a browser game. The Settlers Online offers a really huge number of good features for all the lovers of the mmorts genre and also a very well done chat system. The massive part of the game is to do alliance with other players and trade with them in order to grow your community of settlers bigger and bigger.
All the lovers of the online rts will surely like this title and will play a lot of time inside the universe of The Settlers Online.
Have fun!
I at outset would recommend any person intending to play this game not to spend real life money on it. Its an amazing game however a complete waste of your money. Normally players can buy gems for a price which although may seem lucrative given the discounts offered but is useless. To have fun in the game you might as well go with the game’s economy without bringing real money into play.
The game is feature rich however its biggest downside is abusive moderation. Like any online game – volunteers moderate the trading, chat and other player interactions. But given the immense control vested with the moderators and they themselves being among players, lead to unpleasant experiences and abuse of authority. You might end up using real life money for a few days only to realize that you just like thousands of other players who have tried the game could be banned for trivial issues or no reason at all.
The silliest reason I can remember is a player getting banned caused Moderator didn’t like his name, although it was neither abusive nor in any violation. Next thing they did was to change the player name after a week of ban to one of their own liking before allowing him to play.
Retarded isn’t it !!! But seemingly you are more likely to get banned than play the game.
The support for the game is another dysfunctional area of it which leads to the downfall of the game.
I would rate this game as 1.5 out of 5. Even the 1.5 is towards the feature rich game-playing experience. Give yourself a few months before spending any money on the in-game currency or items.
Aashish is right.
This game is a good game. Nice little strategy game with quite a lot to do to keep you pleasantly engrossed.
Downside?
Oh the downside is a big one.
Because the game is PEGI-7 (available for 7 year olds) the developers Ubisoft use moderators. While some of these are very good, it only takes one bad apple like mod Lotak who is appallingly trigger happy, to not just spoil you game, but ban you from it altogether.
You are right to assume that players are at fault, but you do so at your peril.
Imagine investing real money in the game (terms and conditions state you can have no legal claims against UbiSoft) and you are singled out for Lotaks personal attention. It really doesn’t matter if you are in the right or wrong. A permanent ban ( any mod can be an immature teenagers with no sense of responsibility) will not just deprive you of playing, but will ensure you never see another pennies worth of game play – let alone a refund.
This game is not for the likes of players of WoW where your game play is guaranteed for a small monthly investment, this game takes your cash, then does exactly as it chooses and to heck with your investment.
It’s up to you, but please do be careful with your money in this moderator infested jungle.
