Faeria Goes Free-To-Play in August
Abrakam is pleased to reveal their free-to-play launch details for Faeria. The Collectible Card Game (CCG) will go F2P on August 24th while also undergoing a major update which includes the first new single player content since the game launched in Early Access in March 2016.
The F2P launch coincides with Version 0.8, which will introduce the first part of the expanded single player content. Players will be offered a variety of new AI opponents to fight against, and 20 hours of solid single player content.
Solo mode will grow from being an important but small part of the game to becoming a full blown single player experience, ideal for helping new players learn how to play Faeria, while making it an exciting way to master more complex strategies as well. Content will continue to increase over the coming months and years.
“After our Kickstarter campaign, we realised that Faeria had a lot of potential to grow above being just a niche game, so it was therefore decided that, in addition to building the game for multiple platforms, we would open the gates for everyone to enjoy Faeria, regardless of their wallet size,” said Emilien Eloy, Chief Marketing Officer for Abrakam.
“When crafting the user experience, we always want to make sure that the F2P journey is enjoyable and money spent in the game isn't a huge factor in a player's progression. At the same time, we also need to make sure that a player who spends money is feeling rewarded by their purchase and this is a very fragile balance. We’ve always said that Faeria is easy to learn but hard to master and we’re hoping our move to F2P along with the launch of Version 0.8 will open doors for gamers who haven’t yet been able to make the move to CCGs.”
Other changes in this milestone update will include new visual effects, new languages for the game, a newly designed layout for Mythic cards, and a number of other smaller improvements and optimisations. At the same time, Abrakam will be rolling out private alpha testing for the iOS tablet version, the first stage in development for mobile platforms. Further mobile platforms will be announced later this year.
Staying in Early Access until Version 1.0, Faeria looks to introduce many unique elements above and beyond traditional Collectable Card Games, from intricate gameplay aspects to obvious key features such as the unique Living Board concept, where both players shape the board on which cards are played as the game progresses.
To celebrate the announcement of the F2P date, Abrakam and Valve are hosting a 24h free period on Steam starting today. This 24h free period means that everyone who installs the game during this time will be able to play Faeria for free forever.
