In the last episode of our F2Pmeter series, we checked out Heroes & Generals, now it's time to delve into a completely different genre and test a free-to-play browser-based TCG: Summoner's Legion. We've already published a review about this game (check it out), so now it's time to find out about its level of free-to-play-ness.

Remember that games start with a 100% of free-to-play-ness, and that this % will vary depending on the answers to the questions.

Are you ready?

No. Summoner's Legion is free for everyone to register and start playing without having to pay anything.

 

 

Yes (optional) – -15%. Being designed since the beginning as a free-to-play title, Summoner's Legion doesn't require a monthly fee to be played. However, you can buy VIP cards (1 month, 3 months, 6 months options) that will give you benefits and rewards such as more deck pages, more stamina purchases, the chance to refresh mercenaries and more. Moreover, recharging gold (premium currency) and staying VIP will give you progress point to level up your VIP status and earn more useful rewards.

 

 

No. Every update/expansion to date has been released for free.

 

 

Yes – -5%. You can buy gold with real money to purchase VIP Cards, booster packs, stamina and more.

 

 

No (but...) – -5%. Although one could consider VIP rewards, premium booster packs and stamina an advantage, without the chance to buy specific cards being restricted to the regular users, it actually seems to be more of a timesaver. There are some unique cards available in the premium booster, but it's not that much of a direct advantage anyway.

 

 

No. It seems there aren't UI customization options restricted to paying users at this time.

 

 

Yes. Everyone have access to the available classes/decks for free, which are Warrior, Ranger, Mage andPriest.

 

 

No. Right now, there isn't any auction house system in the game.

 

 

Yes – -10%. VIP members get additional deck pages (the higher the VIP level, the more additional pages).

 

 

Yes. You can unlock and access every location in the game through regular gameplay.

 

 

No. All the game content seems to be available to both paying and non-paying users.

 

 

Yes – +10%. Despite the possibility to buy VIP cards and card booster, the game seems to be actually playable and enjoyable for free users as well; it will just take a little longer for them to achieve the same goal as a VIP/paying player.

Summoner's Legion gets a 75% of free-to-play-ness in our F2Pmeter.
