Ubisoft has just announced the release of Heart of Nightmares, the latest expansion for their strategy card game Might & Magic Duel of Champions, which introduces 100 new cards, 6 new heroes, a new base set as well as new features including puzzles.
They also released a new trailer in this context:
The patch adds 6 new heroes to MMDoC, one for each faction, all of which require new strategies in combat due to their different powers.
"Our players are quick to adapt and learn the best way to defeat opponents with the cards in their deck, so we are continuing to give players new hero options to keep the game fresh," explained Samuel Jobin, Producer of Might & Magic Duel of Champions. "Each new hero requires players to learn their strengths and weaknesses, shifting their strategy in order to play or defeat them."
In order to rebalance the meta-game and make the game easier for new players, a new base set now is available to players, allowing them to choose from 2 game formats: the standard format, which is the official game format for competition, featuring cards from Base Set 2 and all upcoming series, and an open format that applies to all the cards released prior and into this expansion.
Heart of Nightmares moreover extends solo campaigns to a total of 30 missions and introduces puzzles which also add another solo experience where players have to use complex game mechanics to reduce an opponent’s health to zero in only one turn.
Furthermore, a new ranking and matchmaking system with classes will replace the ELO system that has presented some inconsistencies in the past. The game economy has also been reviewed and new series will be more accessible as players will now be able to purchase them with gold earned in-game a few weeks after their launch. And finally, all menus have undergone a redesign and new visual effects have been added to the battleground.
