Gameforge has just annonced to act as the European publiser for Orcs Must Die! Unchained, which is scheduled for release exclusively on PC in late 2014. The free-to-play MOBA game is Robot Entertainment's newest instalment of the Orc's Must Die! franchise.
"We’re incredibly excited to greatly expand the universe and style of gameplay in Orcs Must Die!" told Robot Entertainment CEO Patrick Hudson. "After the first game, fans told us they wanted cooperative gameplay, and we were thrilled to deliver it in Orcs Must Die! 2. After the sequel, we heard the cry for competitive gameplay. Orcs Must Die! Unchained is an answer to that and much more. It’s a realisation of Robot’s ambition for what the franchise could ultimately become. It’s bigger, deeper and meatier. We hope fans enjoy playing it as much as we have enjoyed testing it."
Set in the same well-known universe as its humorous fantasy predecessors, the action in Orcs Must Die! Unchained takes place years after the finale of Orcs Must Die! 2. Dozens of new rifts and magical worlds beyond them have been discovered, causing heroes from far and wide to fight an all-out war for control of these valuable gateways. The War Mage and Sorceress have utilised the period since Orcs Must Die! 2 to rebuilt the once-mighty Order, but their common foe, the Unchained, is no longer the mindless horde defeated twice before, but an organised army led by powerful heroes instead.
Orcs Must Die! Unchained allows players to choose from dozens of unique and powerful heroes, which promises in-depth gameplay options at all skill levels. They will collect and customise not only mighty heroes, but also incredible weapons, traps and minions to build an enormous arsenal, allowing them to customise their strategy for each encounter.
The title is all about competitive siege warfare, tasking players to unleash their minions, charge into the opponent stronghold and build impenetrable defensive structures and traps.
