First Look: Warframe

Warframe - First look - EN

Today we enter into the world of Warframe, the futuristic PvE co-op third person shooter where you play the part of a summoned space-ninja called to fight off an alien invasion. Literally, your character is armed with a katana and other amazing stuff.

And below you can take a look to our first impressions of the game, to give you an idea of what offers the game if you never have tried it.

First impressions? The game is REALLY fun. A lot of MMO's are focused on the competitive aspects, really pushing forward PvP and the like, but in this case, Warframe is a cooperative game, allowing you to play and annihilate your enemies with your friends. Running around and just blasting the snot out of your enemies is great!

One of my favorite aspects of MMOs are the instance based dungeons where you grab your party, work through the area, pick up some storyline and then have a fight against a cool boss at the end… that’s pretty much what Warframe seems to be, just instance after instance after instance.

One of our favorite aspects of an MMORPG are the instance based dungeons where you join a group, work through the area, pick up some storyline and then have a fight against a cool boss at the end… and that’s pretty much what Warframe offers, just instance after instance after instance...

During the first missions you will not face great challenges because you're focused on discovering the capabilities of your Tenno (your space ninja), which means there wasn’t much in the way of team work and the group pretty much just split up at times doing their own thing, turning your enemies into minced meat until you come to the next meeting. However, in later missions you’re really going to need some team based strategy and communication is going to be the key to emerge victorious.

The action based combats are very fluid, although the melee can be confusing, because the camera angles and lighting effects can disorientate you pretty quickly making you lose track of your enemy mob. Nothing, at least on default, has its name floating above her head, unlike in the typical MMORPGs, so the enemies could be hiding in corners or by the sides of doors waiting for you to enter and ambushing you.

All the game offers a pretty fun experience, casual enough to pick up when you want a change of pace, but involved enough to keep you engaged in the missions. And if all this was not enough to convince you to try the game, remember that the game is free-to-play, which means that you can enjoy the game for free.
