To celebrate the 5-year anniversary of Star Trek Online, the game receives a content update including in-game enhancements such as updates to the bridge officer training system, new secondary deflector items and an overhauled Romulan story arc. Players may also look forward to a new story episode featuring Denise Crosby (Tasha Yar) and Garrett Wang (Harry Kim).

The STO anniversary event invites players to participate in order to gain Anniversary Q-mendations, which can be spent on an Event Reputation project in order to get access to the Kobali Samsar Cruiser. This brand-new starship offers an all-new starship trait and comes equipped with a Lieutenant Commander Command/ Engineering seat, an exceptionally rare Mk XII warp core that is part of the Kobali space set and a universal console that can be used on any ship.
