Top-tier eSports Competitions of HOTS
Blizzard has announced that its free to play MOBA Heroes of the Storm is ready to plunge into the world of top-tier eSports, with the inaugural of its Spring season Global Championship Circuit. Blizzard will have the help of ESL to organize at least two tournaments this year.
The first tournament is going to be held at the ESL America Studios from February 27th to 28th, and the the second one, in Katowice, at the upcoming Intel Extreme Master Expo in Poland (March 5–6). The prize pool in both tournaments will be $ 100,000, and the top two teams of each Championship will get a place on the Spring Global Championships which is going to take place in Korea this April, and will have a prize pool of $ 500,000.
“The ESL Heroes of the Storm Championships in North America and Europe will award US$200,000 across just two months. We’re excited to be working together with Blizzard Entertainment on these tournaments, and look forward to the Spring Global Championship and all that is beyond,” said Sebastian Weishaar, Senior Vice President International Business at ESL. “2016 will be an exciting year for the community and we look forward to bringing the best of the competitive scene to audiences both online and at the venues themselves.”
