Last weekend, the first European Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival took place in London, where Square-Enix announced further details concerning the game’s upcoming expansion, Heavensward.
During the opening ceremony presentation, Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida introduced flying mounts, new beast tribes and primals as well as the new Dark Knight job, all of which will all be added to FF XIV with the release of Heavensward next spring.
Flying mounts will take the player’s adventure to new heights. Two types of flying mounts were revealed at the Fan Festival, single-rider airships and a flying black chocobo, both of which will make it easier to explore the floating lands that will prominently be featured in the expansion.
Heavensward will moreover introduce two new beast tribes, the Vanu Vanu and the Gnath, as well as their primals, Bismarck, and Ravana, respectively.
And finally, they revealed the first new job to be released with Heavensward: Dark Knight, which will serve as a tank, wielding a two-handed greatsword and utilising darkness-based actions. In Contrast to the existing jobs in the game, Dark Knight won’t feature a base class that later evolves into a job.
The producer concluded the keynote by announcing that more details and more jobs will be revealed during the next Fan Festival event, which will take place in Tokyo on December 20/ 21.
