With Freedom Falls, Forsaken World has just received its latest expansion, which introduces a multitude of new content along with additional gear, bug fixes and tweaks than this single article is able to cover. Feel free to check out the official website of Perfect World Entertainment for further details on the comprehensive list of each and everything that is included in the expansion, since we're focusing on the things we thought you might be interested in the most in case you've ever had a look into the game.
First of all, a new race as well as a new class has been introduced to the game, the race being the Demons, who have risen up against the gods in former times, choosing not to worship any deity. Those who didn't flee to Hell have done a deal with the gods, now standing in the line of races battling against the Storm Legion. The only class Demon characters are currently able to choose is the Tormentor who wields a trident and is capable of performing a multitude of fiery and pain inflicting attacks. Having their own racial abilities, this class focuses on and Earth and Fire masteries as well as massive DoT skills.
The invading Storm Legion caused changes to the world itself and while new zones and areas, including the Polar Borderlands and Land of Origination, where unlocked, others became inaccessible, which also meant that instant entrances to specific instances had to be moved in order to still be accessible. Among all the new changes to PvE in Forsaken World, let's mention a few that are the most remarkable ones: apart from a Hero Difficulty setting to the Elemental Spire group instance, there all-new group instances such as 'Freedom Harbor on Fire' or 'Temple of Disaster' designed for groups of 12 to 18 users at level 85 and above, as well as a new solo instance called 'Hell Road Depths' available to players after completing the 'Hell Road'.
Along with the wealth of new PvE content and dungeons, players may also look forward to new items and pieces of gear, e.g. Mount Bags that allow for storing vehicles and mounts more efficiently or a pair of Radiant Wings to equip. Moreover, enhancements have been made to accessories and a huge array of new gems has been introduced. Each gem has its individual unique effects, a Sky Gem, for instance is able to boots healing effects while a Storm Gem increases PvE Intensity. In addition, there are other minor changes and additions capable of largely affecting players, for example, stack limits on various items have been raised as well as the maximum number of 180 bag slots for players of a certain VIP level. Players will furthermore benefit from the introduction of a new user-interface skin, allowing them to switch between the visuals of both the old and the new UI in their system settings.
Another overhaul concerned pets, with the result of players now being able to acquire epic (purple) pets or to alternatively upgrade their level 90 (blue) pets to an epic version, which have a faster growth of their basic attributes as well as a new level XV For their talent growth and overall taking 95% less damage from AoE attacks. When gathering transformation leaves, which are available in the Eyrda Boutique or from defeating the boss in the Mortal Pool at Creekbank Valley, players are able to permanently transform their pet's shape (which can be undone by paying for a trainer).
PvP enthusiasts will be satisfied with hearing about the newly introduced Heart of Ice and Fire battlefield that sees 2 teams of 12 players each engage in thrilling team combat as they compete for the completion of an objective to become the match winner. Both teams’ principal goal consists in trying to take control of the opponents' banners while protecting their own ones at the same time. Just like the rest of the instances and events within the game, the battlefield as well opens at specific times on certain days throughout the week and allows up to 3 players to sign up together in order to be able to fight in the same team.
Another PvP highlight will be Season 3 of Arena fights which is to start soon. In preparation, all players' 3v3 and 6v6 Arena Scores are reset to 1,000 while Arena Points are reset to 0, players will soon get to know the results and performance of Season 2 and Season 2 Arena Gear can be purchased at a much cheaper price before the Season 3 Arena Gear will be available at the Nightfall Citadel as well. Apparently the results of the recent3v3 and 6v6 Arena battles are going to be calculated and then recorded separately for players.
One of the most interesting aspects included in the Freedom Falls expansion is the Apotheosis system which will enable specific players to ascend to near Godhood. Each week, players who were able to reach a Faith level of 70 or above are allowed to pick one of the Deificated Gods (not to confuse with Defecated Gods... eww) as their chosen deity to then try and acquire Badges of Divine Grace by participating in various game features, including slaying world Elite Monsters, killing the final boss in Hero Difficulty group instances, joining the Hell Road ranking and more. Those badges can then be submitted for Divine Esteem Points in order to gain access to a variety of Divine Grace Skills.
In addition to acquiring Grace Skills, those who manage to reach level 11 or above in their Divine Esteem Points and count among the 200 best players will be able to participate in a competition for Godhood. The 5 types of Godhood that are currently available (additional ones are to be introduced in the future) allow players to turn into a Deificated character (which grants them god-like powers) for 5 minutes per day making them a force to be reckoned with. This time can be increased by other players giving worship and praying to the Deificated player (yeah you got that right... other players worshipping you in game!), each prayer increasing the time by a set amount. This isn’t an entirely one-sided benefit though, as worshippers have the chance of receiving various benefits, boons and items for their piety.
