Triad Wars is an open sandbox action multiplayer from United Front Games, following on from their previous single player game Sleeping Dogs players are the rising stars in their Triad gang, looking to build up their turf whilst taking on their rivals. With exciting gameplay and strategic Turf building there’s lots to see and do in the game as players explore a stunningly detailed world built in the Cry Engine 3 and enjoy cinematic car chases and explosive martial arts fights. The game is free to play and so we’re going to put it through our F2PMeter to find out just how free it really is, starting at 100% Free and removing points as we go through the test.

There are no subscription options with the game.



There are currently no DLC or expansions available.



Player can purchase a variety of items in game using Gold, the games premium currency. These range from vehicles, clothing to Favor packs that can give boosts for Raiding, extra weapons and ways to enhance your Turf.



Cosmetics offer no advantages, however Favors are obviously beneficial as they boost all elements of the game. Purchasing packs give players easy access to Favors with minimal effort, and each pack contains a guaranteed gold “Rare” Favor. Otherwise players can earn Favors by completing the sandbox Operations, able to target the types of Favors they are after.



There are no UI customization options.



There are three factions in the game and players can access them all; there are various ways to customize your character.



There is no direct Auction House or market in the game.



Player can collect as many Favors and Vehicles as they like and there are no restrictions.



The entire city is accessible and no areas are restricted to paying players.



All content in the game is accessible, from Raids, Operations and Exports, there are no restrictions on Turf features and so it is an even playingfield for high level players.



The game is extremely fun and, though not without its downsides in places, offers a fast paced game with a huge city to explore. Whether enjoying the open sandbox environment or taking on other players’ turf, there’s hours and hours of fun to be had in the game without spending any money.
