Funcom today has launched the open beta testing of their free-to-play MMO LEGO Minifigures Online for Windows PCs on English servers, thus initiating the final beta phase before the title is supposed to be officially released later this autumn.
The company plans on introducing localised game versions in German, French and Spanish as well as a version for tablets throughout OBT. Feedback from players and data gathered during the process will be used to balance, enhance and expand content, gameplay and the free-to-play business model with optional in-game transactions.
Open beta is scheduled to last for several months until release and will see continued balancing as well as the introduction of additional content and features, e.g. player vs. player combat.
Based on the tremendously popular Minifigures series of collectible toys, LEGO Minifigures Online allows players to collect a multitude of Minifigures, each with their own personality and set of abilities, to take them to great adventures through colourful worlds such as Medieval World, Space World and Pirate World. Everything takes place online, and thousands of players can join each other on exciting adventures and share the fun.
The game has a robust privacy policy. In-game chat is filtered and monitored 24/7 using Crisp Thinking technology. For children aged less than 13, parents get special access to their child's game account, enabling them to easily manage their membership or make in-game purchases.
