R2Games has just announced a 4-week-long alpha testing of their latest free-to-play browser role-playing MMO Monkey King Online. The test is scheduled to begin today, March 28, and end on April 14 and will introduce participants to a huge array of PvP challenges, events and quests.

Inspired by the Chinese epic Journey to the West, Monkey King Online allows players choose one of four ancient heroes, one of which is the rebellious Monkey King himself, to head off to a quest to restore peace in a ravaged world. Combat takes place in real-time and unique Immortals grant players the ability to change shape during battle.

While it's possible to play Monkey King Online solo, the title sports a host of robust multiplayer modes, including team dungeons, PvP combat, competitive Arena play, and territorial Guild versus Guild battles.
