On Reddit, SOE President John Smedley has recently unveiled a thrilling upcoming free-to-play survival sandbox project, H1Z1, in which players will fight against the extinction of mankind and those infected with the H1Z1 virus that brought destruction and death to Earth.
Set in a post-apocalyptic version of the USA, the game starts with what developers call "Middle America and anywhere and everywhere town". There will be urban cities and desolate wide open places for players to explore.
SOE plans on providing players with a sandbox where they may construct shelters with resources collected throughout the world. They will cooperate to build their own fortresses and cities and defend them against other players as well as the infected.
The game will heavily focus on construction and player ownership, and crafting will also play a vital role within the gaming experience: H1Z1 will offer an in-depth system enabling players to produce a wide range of items.
SOE promises to reveal further details along with some in-game footage very soon, so you should stay tuned for that!
